Live Music Every Night. Cold Drinks. Bleecker Street.

NYC's go-to Village bar for live bands, big cocktails, and late nights until 4 AM all week long.

About Us

On Bleecker Street, where the Village has always done things its own way, The Red Lion runs live music seven nights a week. Not a DJ. Not a playlist. A real band on a real stage, every single night, from Monday through Sunday. Guests who came in for a quiet Monday drink have walked out saying it was the best surprise of their week.

The room has the kind of energy that builds on itself. Sports on the screens, cold pints at the bar, quesadillas with portions big enough to share, and a crowd that ranges from NYU students to longtime Village regulars who've been coming here for years. Happy hour runs until 7 PM daily, which makes it a legitimate destination before the dinner rush.

With a 4.4-star rating across nearly 2,000 reviews, the place earns its reputation the hard way: consistent music, consistent food, consistent fun. Doors open at 11 AM on weekdays and 10 AM on weekends, and they don't close until 4 AM. That's not a bar schedule. That's a commitment.

What We Offer

The Red Lion runs the full spread. On the drinks side, expect classic cocktails, draft beers, and a bar staff that keeps things moving even when the room is packed. The happy hour deal runs every day until 7 PM, making early evenings here genuinely worth planning around.

Food-wise, the kitchen puts out solid bar fare with real portions. The quesadillas have earned their own mention in reviews more than once, and the brunch menu on weekends gives you a reason to show up before noon. Private events and buyouts are available for groups who want the whole venue.

And then there's the music. Live bands every night of the week, covering a range of styles and song choices that actually land with the crowd. No cover charge headaches, no minimum awkwardness. Just walk in, grab a spot, and let the night happen.

"Came for a drink on a Monday and was surprised to see a band setting up. Turns out they have live music every night of the week, which is impressive! The happy hour (until 7pm) is quite a good deal for drinks (including: mule, margarita, red ale or lager). They also do 2 appetizers for $20 during happy hour. However, it feels like a trap when it's not clear what you'll get: the menu says 3 tacos per order, yet we received 2 each. Apparently that's what comes with the happy hour deal, but that it wasn't mentioned anywhere."

"Don’t miss this place for a fun night out! The place is like an English pub with a long bar and live music for dancing! Best thing: no cover! Great atmosphere! Enjoy! And the owner added a great feedback! I am back here a few nights later! And same great atmosphere and good Stella draft! Congrats!!! 🎉🎊😍"

"Great local village place for live music and pretty cheap drinks. Medium sized crowd at happy hour that grew to packed standing room only by 8:00 p.m. Live music until maybe 1:00 in the morning? Loved it. We had a good time. In fact everyone seemed to be having a great time. Bartenders were fast and on point. And they let me change the channels of the TV to put the NHL playoffs on in the background which was a bonus. Confession. I've been here quite a few times. Finally decided they deserved a review."
